The Cost of Managing Chronic Conditions

I've had type 2 diabetes since 2012, and one thing that frustrates me is how expensive it can be to manage a long-term medical condition.

Between medication, appointments, blood tests, monitoring equipment and other health-related expenses, the costs quickly add up. Even when you're doing everything you can to manage your condition, it can put a real strain on your finances.

It's not just diabetes, either. People with asthma, chronic pain and other long-term conditions can face ongoing expenses just to manage their health.

Having a medical condition is one thing, but having to worry about the cost of managing it is another. Looking after your health shouldn't feel like a financial luxury.

Does anyone else feel like the financial burden of managing long-term medical conditions doesn't get talked about enough?

I have really good insurance and don't have too many medical issues, thankfully.....

But I feel you!!

Its incredibly difficult to get health insurance in New Zealand if you have chronic medical issues due to the funded medical system in New Zealand but it doesn't fund certain things yet such as monitoring equipment.

I am EXTREMELY lucky -- I take 6 meds which would put a major drain on my finances, but I'm on Medicare Advantage so they are all free, as are doctor and specialist visits.
